Louis Vuitton Opening Party at Chadstone - The Fashion Capital: Review

By frizzles · November 27, 2009 · 1 Comment · 434 Views

Oh what a night!!! It doesn't get much better than a star studded line up of celebrities and socialites, mouthwatering food, French champagne and a Belvedere Vodka cocktail "La Framboise Chic"especially created for the night, great music and all the while in the luxurious surrounds of the brand new Louis Vuitton Store at Chadstone - The Fashion Capital. Such was my Tuesday night this week!!!

After walking through the doors of the Shopping Centre, past the intricately created Louis Vuitton logo Topiary Tree, I just knew that this was going to be a night to remember and truly I will! The crowds gathered as we sipped our Veuve, awaiting the arrival of one of Australia's most famous actresses Toni Collette to arrive - hot on the heels of her recent Emmy win. She looked stunning in a Louis Vuitton black grecian style gown. Toni was there to help celebrate and cut the ribbon thus officially opening the store for business along side Louis Vuitton Asia Pacific President Jean-Baptiste Debains, David Marcun the COO of Property Colonial First State and Philip Corne the CEO of Louis Vuitton Oceania.

Once we raised our glasses to toast the occasion it was then on to party the rest of the night away and party we did. As to be expected from such an exclusive event the guest list was full to the brim with celebrities and some of the city's most chic including Laura Dundovic, Rebecca Twigley, Catriona Rowntree, Kasia Z and Buddy Franklin, Nicholas Bolton, Colette Garnsey, Mark McInnes, Tobie Puttock, John Bertrand and many more. We spoke with some guests who had been flown down from Queensland for the event and were thrilled to be there to join in on the celebrations.

The theme of the cocktail party was "Tres Chic" and honestly they really achieved it. Once you stepped into the tented area in which we were able to sit around chatting by the monogramed bar, listening to the sounds of DJ Anna Lunoe from Modular Records, you simply would not have thought that you were in a shopping centre at all. There was also a huge screen that played an incredible montage of video and graphics of Melbourne that paid tribute to Australia's style capital; which was created by VJ's Michael Hodgson and Bruce Ferguson.

Every single detail had been thought of - whether it was the damask linen napkins or the Louis Vuitton logo toothpicks. But one of the biggest highlights was the roving photographer taking polaroids of guests and putting them in our own special Louis Vuitton Card Photo Frame. Now that was exclusive and a brilliant momento for all those who attended the night.

I encourage all of you to go and take a look at the store and it's truly magnificent array of leather goods, shoes, accessories and more. Louis Vuitton is known world wide for it's heritage of luxury and craftsmanship with over 150 years of unmistakable quality. The Speedy Retrospective is also something not to be missed as it takes you through 12 of the most incredible limited editions of this iconic bag. So make sure you get down to Chadstone soon as this inclusion in the larger Covet Exhibition all conclude on the 6th of December.

Congratulations to Louis Vuitton for the amazing evening and more importantly for the welcome arrival of your stunning new store at Chadstone. I adore my two pieces of Louis Vuitton that I own and I just know that there will be many more customers who are just as happy as I am in the very near future!!!

White Ribbon Day

By frizzles · November 23, 2009 · 1 Comment · 24 Views

I love it when we are able to combine our love for fashion and a cause that is so full of passion. Well this Wednesday, November 25th, don't forget that it is White Ribbon Day, which is dedicated to "help eliminate violence against women". Now if ever there was a cause that should be close to a woman's heart then this would have to be pretty well on the mark!

This year has seen a lot of media about this very issue probably more so than some other years because of the abuse that Rhianna endured from Chris Brown. Just watching her interview with Diane Sawyer is enough to make anyone stand up and think. It needs to be noted though that this is not a new problem. There have been many public cases across the years where this issue has been brought to the forefront. I recall seeing an interview recently on Larry King with Robin Givens who was abused by Mike Tyson and Mary Murphy from the American "So You Think You Can Dance" TV Show who was also a victim of such violence. They shared of their stories and how they are proud of Rhianna for being so strong as she has spoken so openly so soon.

Grand Opening of Chadstone: The Fashion Capital - Review

By frizzles · November 20, 2009 · 0 Comments · 1,031 Views

Wednesday was a hard day at the office, in fact, I'm not quite sure how I got through it! That is - got through it without doing an insane amount of damage to my credit card!!!! I attended the Grand Opening of the final stage of redevelopment at Chadstone - The Fashion Capital and it was sheer and utter bliss!!! It had all the pomp and ceremony of any Grand Opening that is of any significance. Between the trumpeted fanfare and models in gorgeous Grecian gowns carrying velvet pillows with the scissors on them for the official ribbon cutting ceremony - it really was quite special!

Chadstone, now the largest shopping complex in the Southern Hemisphere with it's amazing 530 shops is something for Melbournians and Australians to be very proud of. I have travelled the world, shopping in all sorts of wonderful locations, but I must admit that I am so thrilled to live a mere 15 minutes away from Chadstone. It is way up there, as far as it's world class appeal and now with the new Luxury Mall which includes 12 of the most prominent luxury brands under the one roof, I cannot feel anything but spoiled. Combine this with the fact that there are also another 50 Australian and International Boutiques - you simply cannot go wrong!!! Centre Manager, Stephen deWaele commented about how "It is an amazing time for Chadstone. Chadstone is known for having a heritage for it's fashion and innovation and now it is truly a world class Shopping Centre."

People flocked through the doors and the sales staff were swarmed with the counters being five or more people deep - as shoppers began snapping up what was on offer. In Chanel, the specially designed exclusive handbag designed by Karl Lagerfeld specifically for the Chadstone store, was flying out the door with over twenty sold by lunchtime. Considering the bag costs nearly $5,000; I think that is a pretty amazing feat in itself. But if you have the money then why not? After all, there were only 100 of these bags produced and so it is such a huge collectors item that will last forever. But the registers were ringing up in all the stores with staff and stock levels being re-examined due to the overwhelming response from the crowds. One such family who were "spending up big time", were Rose & Jack Ta, who spent around $15,000 with commitments to return the next day to spend more. They were not phased by spending that amount of money saying, "we work very hard and don't feel guilty in spending our own hard earned money - we enjoy it!"

Comments from the representatives of the luxury brands were all along the lines of how delighted they were to be opening in Chadstone. Susie Stenmark from Chanel said, "...it is in reponse to women wanting shop in an envirionment such as this and therefore they are delighted to be in exactly this right place." While Philip Corne from Louis Vuitton shared how despite the economic climate he was not surprised to see how many customers were in the store because, "Louis Vuitton is known for it's history and quality and that's what people are after." Editor-In-Chief of Vogue Australia Kirstie Clements noted, "the redevelopment is truly amazing...Chadstone is the premiere destination for shopping within Australia."

Australian super-model Nicole Trunfio, was on hand to open the centre saying, "I am so pleased to be part of the celebrations here at Chadstone. I have walked the catwalks of Milan and Paris for many of these luxury brands and it is so wonderful to see them here under the one roof. The customers here in Chadstone are truly spoiled."

So with all that is on offer now, between the opening of all these amazing stores, Valet Parking, a Conceirge and Stylist Service and the phenomenal exhibition Covet - Chadstone is one place that has all your Christmas shopping needs well and truly covered!!!

My Say... "on the Chadstone voucher debarkle"

By frizzles · November 19, 2009 · 1 Comment · 37 Views

Now, you may have heard in the media already that there was a mix up with the $100 Vouchers going to the first 100 people through the doors, but really I think that it was more a shame than anything else. The people at Chadstone were so overwhelmed with the response for those giveaways that they simply were unprepared for it. I think that it is pretty sad though that this "hick-up" became such a big thing trying to derail the joy of the celebrations of the day.
